As a part of the programme we were given an opportunity to analyze the text of a book and connect our ideas to what we already know and to expand your thinking.
It is designed to slow down the reading process and record our thoughts.
It was to be done in three steps.
(1) Quotes:
We had to jot down a quote directly from the text which appeals us most or which makes us think.
(2) Comments:
Any text on which we would like to comment, which help us answer the following questions:
- What does this make us think of?
- Do we agree or disagree and why?
- How does this relate to the theme of the class or class discussion?
- Any reflections?
- Is it surprising and why or why not?
(3) Questions:
Questions that were raised while reading the text:
Some of them could be:
- Is there something here I do not understand (words, ideas, etc.)?
- Is there a question I would like to pose to the author?
- Does the quotation make me question any ideas or assumptions?
Response from colleague - David and Goliath:
Mr Jaydeep Mehta -> Bhavita I am very sure that each and everyone of us fight like a David at all times, never to give up or get demotivated which has led us to be where we are today. We need to be desperate like David because only then, we will be able to be at our best. To get contended after we have achieved something that we wanted to have marks the decline let it be it any profession. Stretching ourselves to the limit and going beyond where people dont dare to is the need of the hour in these times where traditional methods are going to become extinct. Its highly inspiring that your have made the connection of this work of art with The Ethic of Excellence and very aptly put with reference to the same context. Your ability to make connections is worth appreciating. I agree to this statement that ONE size does not fit ALL. We need to create tailor made assessment system so that every student is able to display his learning in the manner that he chooses to do( in a fixed timeframe and in a prescribed manner). Only then we will be able to prove our existence as supporter, motivator and guide to student effectiveness. |
